Soda

The group produces soda products at its plants in Turkey, Bosnia Herzegovina and Bulgaria, meeting domestic demand in Turkey and occupying an important position in international markets.

Chromium

With its Tankrom brand, Soda Sanayii A.Ş. is the world's leading basic chromium sulfate producer, with plants in Turkey and Italy producing chromium chemicals. The biggest sodium bichromate and chromic acid producer in the world, the company supplies its high-quality products to numerous businesses such as leather, wood treatment, metal surface treatment, and pigment production.

Mining

Camiş Madencilik AŞ produces industrial raw materials required by the glass and ceramics industries, and continues its operations in 70 mining areas and at 18 raw material preparation and enrichment plants in Turkey, Bosna Herzegovina and Egypt.

Glass Fiber

Cam Elyaf Sanayii AŞ producing reinforcement material for the GRP industry and serving wind turbine blades, interior and exterior automotive parts, engineering plastics, maritime, industrial applications, and construction sectors.

Vitamin K3 – Sodium Metabisulfite

Oxyvit Kimya Sanayii ve Ticaret AŞ is Şişecam’s joint venture company with Cromital S.p.A. of Italy, and produces Vitamin K3 and derivatives, which are high added-value products used in the feed industry and in premix production, as well as sodium metabisulfite products used in food and textile industries.

1969

Soda Sanayii AŞ was established.

1971

Cam Elyaf Sanayii AŞ was established with the purpose of manufacturing glass tissue.

1973

Cam Elyaf Sanayii AŞ acquired know-how from NGF Japan, and began production of glass-fiber reinforced materials.

1975

Soda Sanayii AŞ began producing soda ash. Cam Elyaf Sanayii A.Ş. started production of glass fiber as they started their first oven.

1976

Roving production started at Cam Elyaf Sanayii A.Ş.

1979

Kromsan Krom Bileşikleri Plant was established.

1981

Cam Elyaf Sanayii A.Ş. started production of polyester resin with the license from SAVID SpA.

1982

Kromsan Krom Bileşikleri Plant was commissioned.

1986

Kromsan Krom Bileşikleri Plant merged with Soda Sanayii AŞ.

1988

Camiş Madencilik AŞ was established.

1993

Soda plant acquired TS-ISO 9002 KGS certification.

1994

The support center at the Tuzla plant began offering improvement and technical support services regarding chromium chemicals.

1996

Oxyvit Kimya Sanayii ve Ticaret AŞ was founded as a partnership of Şişecam and Cromital SpA of Italy.

1997

The first phase of the two-phase extension project of Soda Sanayii A.Ş.’s Soda Plant was commissioned, increasing the production of soda ash. Şişecam became a partner of the privatized Bulgarian soda ash manufacturer Sodi, along with Solvay (Belgium) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Mitracam Plastik Sanayii ve Ticaret A.Ş. is founded as a joint venture between Cam Elyaf Sanayii A.Ş. and German Mitras Group. Şişecam Bulgaria Ltd was founded to streamline efforts in Bulgaria and surrounding markets.

1998

The chromic acid production plant was commissioned by Kromsan Krom Bileşikleri. The technology used to generate sodium bicarbonate at Kromsan was replaced by a new production technology, which brought the standards of Western producers and increased production capacity. Camiş Egypt Mining Ltd was founded for raw material supply. Madencilik Sanayii ve Ticaret Ltd. Şti. was founded.

1999

A limestone/dolomite grinding plant was established at Mersin Organized Industrial Site. Oxyvit began producing Vitamin K3.

2000

The shares of Soda Sanayii AŞ were successfully offered to the public on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.

2001

Soda Sanayii AŞ Soda Plant voluntarily signed the “Triple Commitment.” The Kromsan Plant stopped producing sodium sulfide, while the expansion investment for chromic acid was completed and the production capacity was doubled. Camiş Madencilik AŞ held a groundbreaking ceremony for the Kurucaşile-Bartın plant. Oxyvit began producing all the derivatives of Vitamin K3.

2003

Şişecam (Shanghai) Trading Co. Ltd. was founded in Shanghai to become the center for the Far East operations of the Chemicals Group.

2005

Soda Sanayii AŞ signed an equal-share partnership deal with Cromital, a local chromium chemicals producer in Italy.

2006

Lukavac Soda Plant (FSL), a soda producer founded in Bosnia-Herzegovina’s Tuzla Canton in 1893 was acquired. Sintan Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ was founded as an equal-share partnership by Şişecam AŞ ve Cromital SpA.

2008

Soda Sanayii AŞ acquired 83 percent of İşbank’s shares in Asmaş Ağır Sanayi Makineleri AŞ.

2010

Dost Gaz Depolama AŞ was founded with 84.94-percent partnership of Soda Sanayii AŞ. 50 percent of the shares of R.K. Vijenac d.o.o. Limestone Plant in the Tuzla Kanton of Bosnia-Herzegovina was acquired.

2011

The remaining 50 percent of Cromital SpA shares were acquired and Soda Sanayii AŞ became the sole owner of the company. CAM-SER Madencilik AŞ merged with CAMİŞ Madencilik AŞ.

2012

Soda Sanayii AŞ Chromic Acid, White Sodium Sulfate and Oxygen Plant was commissioned. The Cogeneration Plant under Camiş Elektrik Üretim AŞ became part of Soda Sanayii. Sintan Kimya Sanayi ve Ticaret AŞ was sold.

2013

Camiş Madencilik AŞ completed the investment for the 1st Line of the Karabük Kuvars Kumu Hazırlama Plant, and the line was commissioned in December 2013.

2014

Asmaş was sold on July 15, 2014

2015

Soda Lukavac Plant in Bosnia Herzegovina reached a capacity of 500.000 tons/year with the additional capacity investments.

2016

The New Steam Boiler was put into operation at the Soda Lukavac Plant in Bosnia Herzegovina.

2017

The Oxyvit Kimya Sanayii ve Ticaret A.Ş was completely acquired and Soda Sanayii AŞ became the sole owner of the company. Under sole ownership of Soda Sanayii A.Ş., an investment for a new and modern glass fiber is started in Balıkesir. Sisecam Elyaf Sanayii A.S. is founded.

2018

Sisecam Elyaf Sanayii A.S. continues their production acitivities at their new modernized production plant in Balikesir, since October 2018.

2019

- Soda Sanayii A.S. signed an agreement to establish a joint venture based on equal share percentage with Ciner Group. The total capacity of the new investment is 2.5mn tons of natural soda ash and 200k tons sodium bicarbonate.
