Oxyvit Kimya, Şişecam's business engaged in the production of value-added fine chemicals, operates at Mersis-Tarsus Organized Industrial Zone. Oxyvit Kimya introduced a new technology, never available previously, to Turkey with its Vitamin K3 production. Worldwide, only a handful of companies own Vitamin K3 production technology.
Construction of the plant began in Mersin in November 1997; Vitamin K3 production commenced in early 1999. After the addition of new specialized equipment in 2001, all derivatives of Vitamin K3 started to be produced at this facility. Over the years, Şişecam has steadily grown its Vitamin K3 sales. Today, the company is a key global producer and Europe's only producer of Vitamin K3. With sales to countries around the globe, Oxyvit Kimya’s two largest Vitamin K3 markets are Europe and the United States. The company exports 95% of its production.
Oxyvit Kimya has also produced and sold sodium metabisulfite and sodium bisulfite since 2007.
Oxyvit Kimya holds Fami-QS, ISO 9001: 2008 Quality, ISO 14001 Environment and OHSAS 18001 Occupational Health and Safety, ISO 50001 Energy Efficiency and Kosher certifications.
Vitamin K3
Vitamins are organic compounds taken in small quantities with food, necessary for normal metabolic functions and sustaining health.
Besides its importance as an anticoagulant, Vitamin K3 is a key premix material for animal feed and is widely used in veterinary medicine. Vitamin K3 is added to the feed of farmed animals (e.g. poultry, fish, swine) that cannot synthesize this vitamin in their own metabolism.
